Lane Cove NSW
Gilmore Interior Design was engaged to update the entrance of this private residence and provide a solution for a heat load issue, from the previous glazed gable roof feature at the entry.
The design intent for the exterior was to enhance the main entrance, which was achieved by building a portal frame and cladding this in sandstone, as well as a new raised raked roof with glass louvers.
The entry foyer, which then gained volume as a result of changing the glass gable roof, was adorned by striking cluster pendant lights, custom made joinery units, artworks and custom-designed rugs.
The combination of these elements creates a dramatic and elegant entrance to the residence.
New furniture, soft furnishings, rugs, artworks and pendant lights were also added to the dining room, rear lounge area and main bedroom. Custom-designed translucent screens were designed to delineate the dining room from the existing corridor.
The original laminate kitchen was updated with a polyurethane finish; new lounges and a custom designed rug were placed in the rear lounge adjacent to the kitchen area.
