Prestige Apartment

Prestige Apartment

Port Moresby PNG

Gilmore Interior Design completed the design works for the Prestige Apartments development in Port Moresby in 2006.

Last year the client once again engaged Gilmore Interior Design to update the interior of his own apartment unit within the development.

The refurbishment took approximately nine months to complete and included Interior Design works, shipment of materials and site construction. Most of the items were custom-designed, per-fabricated in Australia and prepared for installation on-site before shipping to Port Moresby.

The challenges of this project were numerous and included designing to suit the site’s high-humid climate and proximity to the ocean, sourcing skilled tradesmen overseas and shipping materials.

The apartment was refurbished with new wall finishes, decorative lighting, furniture and soft furnishings, custom designed screens and joinery throughout. Two of the three existing bathrooms were also refurbished with new finishes and layouts to accommodate more storage.

The finest calacutta marble slabs were hand-picked as feature wall cladding for the ensuite and carved vanity basins.

The same premium marble was applied to the powder room’s vanity wall, softened by the warmth of recycled timber cluster pendant lights and timber veneered cabinets.

The bespoke resin dining table, with an engraved design and splayed metal rods for legs, aligns with a matching custom designed resin wall divider. The timber framed screen to the in-house exercise zone, displays the same etch design as the dining table.
